Water Well Drilling
WHO's Report on State of Water on Earth
Currently on this earth, there are more than 1.2 billion people suffering from lack of water, and more than 2.3 billion people are living in a place without safe and clean water.
Moreover, surface water on most nations is too polluted to be consumed safely. (Reasons being: industrial waste, agricultural waste, animal waste. etc.)
Different Well Drilling Rigs
Cable Tool Rig
-
It has a long history of being used (China has used it from over 1,100 years ago)
-
Pros: It can dig much deeper than the surface level, so it is economical, efficient, and often successful.
-
Cons: It has a slow drilling speed, and its success is directly dependent on the operator's skills.
Air Rotary Drill Rig
-
It uses power of pressurized air to dig deep into the ground.
-
Pros: It can dig through bedrock in a short time.
-
Cons: The rig is very costly, and it also requires an expertise in operation. It is also a very large rig, hence restricts it from being used in many places.
Mud Rotary Drill Rig
-
It mixes a mud called Bentonite through a drill pipe as it digs into the ground, and it is widely used for our missions.
-
Pros: It is easily portable, works at a fast speed, and yields a maximum result at a low cost.
-
Cons: In a bedrock or rocky layer, it is not too efficient. It does require some training to use.
Tips for Well Drilling
-
To maintain rig and equipment, and to prepare surplus of parts and materials.
-
To not panic when accidents happen: Let the Spirit guide you in a positive mindset.
-
To not pollute the underground water: Once it is polluted, it is too difficult to be purified.
-
To prevent accidents: An accident in mission field can cause a great damage to our witnessing.
-
To not stumble the natives: We can stumble the gospel message rather than evangelizing.
-
To sanitize the well completely before installing the pump.
